14 - Recalcitrant

Sam didn’t listen to Tom. He tried his best.

But she thought she knew better. That she was superior. As if being kind made Tom weak.

It didn’t matter to Tom. He just wanted peace.

Tom kept on forgiving her. For her lies and abuse.

But one day everything changed. He knew. Finally he understood.

She didn’t want a happy life. She wanted chaos and lies.

It was an all an act from Sam from day one. And an act from her family as well.

She and her family never bothered to contemplate what injustice and unfairness they dished out.

It’s “freedom”. Sam’s violent and shameless father would say.

It wasn’t. For Sam’s father, she was just a business transaction.

A mere puppet.

If she had meant anything, he would not have destroyed her life for his own perversions and motives. And her mother was as hypocritical. Using Tom as long as she needed him. And lying about him when she pleased.

But she herself had a son who was younger than Tom. Would she not realise the crimes she committed against a person for her own sick reasons?

Sam’s parents were no role models. They were the worst people any child could ever hope to have as parents.

They had the worst and most shameful of habits.

And their children only learnt to have these same habits. Be it violence, cheating, lying, drinking, smoking.

Tom couldn’t save her. He tried his best. But who would be able to save a person who was so recalcitrant?

No one cared. How much injustice they had committed against Tom?

But.

They would realise. That it would come back to them. They would have to answer for all the cruel acts. It would only be too late for them unfortunately.

As time went on, Tom had realised. They never appreciated real kindness.

Tom expected nothing anymore from a family who could stoop so low. A corrupt family who would just lie and lie.

Sam and everyone around her were perverted. Violent. And without shame or guilt.

Their consciousness did not let them realise what negative actions and thoughts spiral their lives.

An uncooperative attitude. Even with people who want the best for you, means that you will have nothing but regret. Regret for injustice, crimes committed, lives hurt.

Yet, Sam’s environment made it seem like a good thing.
When people think only about themselves, and choose to disregard others around them, they set themselves up for failure. Sam had sadly done the same. Supported by her family in corruption.
